South African job market up to 36%

The second quarter of 2015 saw rise of 36% in the number of advertised jobs year-on-year, according to research from the Robert Walters South African Jobs Index.

The number of vacancies advertised online has revealed that demand for professionals has continued to increase in almost all sectors seeing a rise in job volumes. 

With the stable increase in job vacancies across diverse professional sectors, job seekers can be optimistic in seeking opportunities in the market.- Nic Sephton Poultney, Country Manager at Robert Walters.

Professions in demand

The most dramatic rises in vacancy numbers were in the accounting sector ( 68%), engineering and natural resources (57%) and banking and financial services (34%) professions. The HR sector also saw growth with 27% more jobs advertised year-on-year.

There was also significant growth in the major cities, with the vacancies up 64% in Johannesburg.
