Chief Internal Auditor

A medium-sized Retail Bank, based in Johannesburg, is seeking a Chief Internal Auditor to take responsibility for the full audit function for the company. This company is a well-established business, and are seeking relevant applicants from Financial Services audit, who are already operating at a moderately senior level (such as Head of Internal Audit for a division of a large business, or Senior Internal Auditor), who are ready to step up for the first time into CIA. Key qualification and experience required for the Chief Internal Auditor:

• Min. Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting fields

• Chartered Internal Auditors (CIA) full qualification or part-qualification preferred

• 6+ years existing experience in Internal Audit, either within Financial Services or within a Big 4 firm

• Extensive understanding of banking regulations within South Africa

• Team Management experience

Key duties required for the Chief Internal Auditor:

• Ensuring compliance with the relevant Internal Audit requirements

• Putting relevant policies and procedures in place

• Providing advice to senior management on decision making

• Creating and maintain audit plans

• Improve governance and internal controls within the business

• Hiring and managing an audit team on a day-to-day basis

• Creation and streamlining of audit processes
