Our client is a leading Investment Bank in Sandton and they are currently looking to recruit a Technical Accountant
Requirements:
CA
Big four articles (fist preferred)
Very strong academic record
CFA or part CFA advantageous
Experience:
Investment banking experience (within a professional services firm or at a bank)
Experience in the accounting for structured trades
Experience in writing accounting opinions
Basic quants skills advantageous
Knowledge and skills:
Very strong IAS 39 and IFRS 7 knowledge
Strong report writing skills
Responsibilities:
Day to day interaction with product developers, sales people etc in the front office who require advice on how the transactions they are developing should be accounted for.
Assisting with the development of products and transactions where accounting is contentious.
Assisting with the preparation of models for the whole life treatment of transactions.
Assisting with the write up of proposed accounting treatments for review under new product sign off procedures.
Interacting with downstream accountants in Product Control and Financial Control who review and challenge proposed treatments.
Interacting with the tax department where the tax treatment is impacted by accounting.
Advising on hedge accounting
Tracking accounting judgements
Resolving technical accounting issues
Assisting with the implementation of best practice financial disclosures and presentation
